'i like big books and i cannot lie'

sorry i couldn't resist a little sir mix a lot. anyways, a couple weeks ago i saw someones 'big book' pinned on pinterest and it gave me the inspiration to give you a little inside peek to mine!

first off...what is a 'big book' you say?!..if you were an education major at texas tech...then you are ahead of the game...if not no worries, i'll fill you in. during the last block of classes in early childhood education at texas tech before your student teaching semester....you have lots of big projects/assignments. one of them would be the 'big book' i've been rambling about...and it was my favorite project and it has come in the most handy at school!! they have us create at big book about ourselves to read and introduce ourselves the first day of student teaching...you can make it just plain and simple all about me, the abc's of me, my favorite things, the fairytale story of me, and etc. i went with 'the fairytale story of miss kranz' for the kiddos ...

so here are some pictures of each page of my big book....
the cover

growing up

family

favorite vacations

high school

college. wreck em.

until more....
what i like best about these big books is that you can add to them as the years go on...i haven't ye,t but i was thinking about adding a page for my curent school....or adding in that i have a cute little niece...stella (this was made before her time)!!!!

...the kids LOVE learning more about you...i read this the first day of school and then leave it out for them to browse through...it is the most popular book in the class library all year round...no joke.

i encourage all of you to make your own 'big book' and PLEASE share with me!!

  9. This is an AWESOME idea!!! I HAVE to make this!! I teach Kindergarten now, but I have taught fifth before. If you have a buddy class, they could even make their own big books to read to their buddies! How fun!

  10. This is so random, but I am a student at Tech in my block 3 classes that googled "Student Teaching ALl about me books," and this page came up! The weirdest thing is: I am from Richardson too, and went to RHS! And then of course, I am at Tech now. Just had to tell you since it was just so crazy to scroll down the page and see an RHS page AND a Tech page! :)
