so my life has been full of craziness the past couple weeks...i won't go into detail and bore you...but lets just say i have had ALOT on my mind...and with that comes STRESS....so much stress. 

i ran some errands with my mom after work today...and we were talking about the different things that have been making my life a little bit more crazy than usual...and she told me stress doesn't bring anything good along with it...and i needed to just SHAKE IT OFF.

my first 'bloggy' award!!! how exciting!!!! 

1. Thank the person who presented the award to you and link back to them.
I actually have two people to thank for the "versatile blogger" award.... thank you to my good friend emily a first grade frenzy... she does the CUTEST things in class with her little firsties...i know because she is just right down the hallway from me! :) Another BIG thank you goes to meghan at third grade in the first state...click the link and go check out all the great ideas she has...such a fun blog!!
2. Tell seven things about yourself.
1. this is my second year teaching second grade...i couldn't imagine myself doing anything else in life.
2. if i wasn't working with my little kiddos...i would be doing something in fashion, design, or something artsy.
3. i am currently car-less....but fortunate enough that my parents will share their cars for the time being... 
4. i am weirdly obsessed with quotes. i have a quote book...yes it is true.
5. my favorite band is the beatles...i own all their albums on vinyl (it was a gift).
6. one of my all time favorite movies is a tie between 'when harry met sally' & 'you've got mail' ....but i also love 'across the universe' & 'almost famous' (for my music side).
7. i hands down have the best family and friends anyone could ever ask for...no to brag or anything....but i am bragging, they are the absolute BEST!!!

"2nd" #7... i know this is a 'teacher' blog...but i am a conversational writer (typer)...so i apologize, it is just me!

so i haven't done a "linky party" in a long time...so i thought i would join in on the fun on this very very gloomy rainy monday....

anyways, excited to start this new week...i have alot of super fun stuff planned for this week to keep my kiddos (and myself...duh.) engaged & entertained...

another post about new years...A113 style.

i know i said i wasn't a big resolution person...but walking to my apartment after school tonight...oh wait did i say after school...sorry i meant after TRAFFIC!!!! grrrr it was so bad... anyways....while i was walking to my apartment from my car tonight....i decided my 'teacher' new years resolution is to bring less stuff to and from school...i mean come on i look like a bag lady everyday....take a look for yourself...and this is on a 'good' day....

complete with binders, projects, papers to grade,
teacher edition/other books for planning,
school laptop.....and much much more.

today was the first day back for the kiddos...here is a glance into our classroom on how we celebrated 2012!!! (thanks to my blogger friends for the inspiration/documents!!!)

I'm going to be honest here....sometimes i spend time making cute goodies for my class and i get sooo excited about it...and i usually get bummed after i give it to them because they weren't even half as excited as i was. BUT.....NOT today!!!....it was only a pencil with a little saying on it...and their faces lit up and they all smiled so big. it made me the happiest teacher ever.

We talked about what a new years resolution is...and then brainstormed our own class resolutions...which was so much fun to hear all their cute/hilarious/serious/adorable/wacky ideas...i wrote them all down on a chart for us to post in the hallway outside our classroom door...then we each decorated a 'person' to look like us along with a new years party hat...andddd construction paper hair...duh!!! here are some pictures of how they turned out...i think they are way cool....i just love kids art, it is the best.

here are some reasons why it was 'hard' to be back at work today...my alarm going off at 5am...not being able to stay in my pjs  until noon if i wanted....lounging around my apartment....ok enough enough.

{BUT}

here are my reasons why i wouldn't have it any other way. seriously. i wouldn't.

last year...yes i saved it....yes it is framed....and yes it is
hanging in my apartment.

here is the other reason....

i love music and i love children's books...put them together and sold...you've got me!!....well one of my students was reading this particular book which is the lyrics to 'forever young' (LOVE IT)...she was reading it out loud...and didn't know i was listening...but man o man, it was the best watching/listening to her read this book. it made my day.

ok enough of my rambling...all in all it was a great start to 2012 in A113 today!!!

a new year? what?! 2012.

my winter break is now coming to an end...i do have to say that it was one for the books! getting to spend time with family and friends...and finally able to spend some time in my apartment!! it was a much needed break. here are some of the highlights through pictures...
